On March 20th 2012, we have imported a new species of New World Monkeys, Silvery Marmosets. The male comes from Whipsnade Zoo, England, and the female from Jihlava ZOO, Czech Republic. This arboreal primate species inhabits rainforests of Brazil, south and east of the Amazon River. It feeds mainly on tree sap, as well as bird eggs, fruits, insects and small vertebrates. It lives in small family groups consisting of a monogamous pair and their offspring. We are the only Zoo in Slovakia which keeps this species. You can see them in our terrarium.
