One of the oldest chimpanzees in Europe died

On Thursday afternoon, April 21, 2016, probably one of the oldest Chimpanzees in Europe died at the Bratislava ZOO. The male Kongo was born in the wild around 1965. When he was three, he was captured and sold to owners of an ice show. In 1974 he was placed into the Liberec ZOO. In 2010, the Bratislava ZOO opened the Primate House, which became the home for Kongo and his grandchildren Jimmy and Majoránka. A GIFT FOR GRATE APES

A GIFT FOR GRATE APES

By the end of 2014, we searched for some new enrichment ideas for Great Apes, to have more options to vary the activity of the animals. International Macaque Day

Today, there is less than half of this number living there. Decline in numbers is caused by the loss...

Our Sumatran Orangutans have been put together!

On 22 January 2016, our male Filip and female Mengala, together with her offspring Vilmos, were for the first time let together in the same housing area. The process went without a hitch and no signs of aggression were observed. All three animals were able to get acquainted during the last several months in the background area through bars, and now they will be getting used to living together, sharing the same territory. We are pleased that from this day you can see the new Orangutan...
